The start of Second Term 2007

At the end of this term the Tiwi project will be twelve months old. We started with two kids, now there are five. But this term was the hardest to get started. Kids did not look forward to going back to Toowoomba for a winter.
We realize that we needed to give more support. The St Vincent de Paul Society has been magnificent, lending vehicles, booking the fares, organizing a pizza meal welcome after mass at Kenmore.
More support means having every one to focus on the goal of education so Tiwi themselves can take charge and fix the appalling suffering at home. Everyone means the Tiwi Parents, the Tiwi kids, the Downlands community and Brisbane support people so we understand the enormity of the cultural leap the kids must make and can strengthen the insight into a future career path.
The Tiwi parents have reconvened the Tiwi St V de P society to focus on career paths and where the kids are going and why they should be encouraged hard.
Noel Pualtulura intends to come to give support to the kids and we will increase communication between the teachers and home.
The kids had a touch of the miseries when they arrived in Brisbane: "the work is to hard, the Dorms are too Boring..." Time out at the football helped, the kindness of the St V de P, a MacDonalds outing always helps .... and everyone finished up being happy.
